Weekly Wonder Online - Welcome Edition

NOTE: Looking for 2015/16 version - click here!

Denis Waitley wonders...

"Procrastination is the fear of success. People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success that they know will result if they move ahead now. Because success is heavy, carries a responsibility with it, it is much easier to procrastinate and live on the "someday I'll" philosophy."

If you watch this video below, you'll see that it's the reason why I got started with recording it in the first place...

(NOTE: Yes, I wrote any captions you see in this video. It's called self-deprecation, and it's mostly a healthy thing (I think!).)

What I Wonder...

As I say in the rather rambling, rather long video above - and I must remember to not speak in such a patronising tone, sometimes (oops!) - I HAVE been thinking about doing The Weekly Wonder in video format for some time. For maybe 6 months, even. And that is a long time to think about doing something without doing it.

And why have I only just got around to doing it now?

Could it be I didn't have enough time before, or could it be that I was frightened of success (whatever 'success' means)?

I don't know - I don't have all the answers, even about myself! ;-)

I do know that I'm glad I got started, even if my video could have made its point in 1 minute rather than 5.

So I'm glad - VERY! - that The Weekly Wonder videos have now started (and finished - now completed 52 videos). And I'm really glad you're watching and reading, and hopefully getting involved somehow.

Procrastination is nobody's friend, nobody's!

And we all should do as much as we can to encourage ourselves to stop hiding behind our fears, to take action, as well as encourage those people in our lives who are procrastinating too.

...Anyway, this is a long, long way of saying "welcome" to you.

Yes, I am prone to ramble.

Would love to hear your rambles too.

So, please comment below.

PS And here are the two other free inspirational quotes about procrastination

"If and When were planted, and Nothing grew."
-- Proverb

"The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started."
-- Dawson Trotman

PPS Now please comment, please have your say - thanks.

Hi Steve,

Just in case you do not know (but I suspect you do), IF is the biggest word in the English language. Probably followed by the words

I Wish.

Both expand into 'Do something and do it now!'

Kind regards

Only 4 videos to go, MJ
by: Steve

Thank you MJ for your kind words, and I hope you enjoy the videos I record (and have already recorded).

I will say, though, that I am only going to be creating 4 more weekly wonder videos. I will then start to record monthlty marvel videos - one per month.

So you'll get 4 more weekly wonder videos in your email, the next few Wednesdays, but if you'd like to watch the videos I've recorded already you can find them all listed here: Free Inspirational Quotes Videos (Weekly Wonders)

Enjoy, and thanks again! :-)

Idea from your Welcome Video
by: Dave

Steve, thanks for an awesome video!

I am a corporate slave attempting to flee the walls of the city by starting an online business, and really appreciate your positive intentions.

Listening to your discussion about procrastination, it occurred to me that rather than fear being the motivator of "intertia" (as Denis Waitley said) maybe it's just like in physics, when it takes more energy to change states (from solid to liquid, liquid to gas).

Having to overcome procrastination is just a physical property of the universe, like gravity, that we all have to overcome. If we have momentum on a project, or have passion, it's easier to counteract that force.

You wanted to motivate a response, and now you may be sorry with this weird entry LOL!

In any case, your presence in producing your videos and other materials reminds me of something that I kid my boss about: "I create value from the nothingness of the universe". Actually, it's translating energy into a form that we can recognize in this existence.

Keep up the good work.
