I don't know about you, but I've been trying to work out 'reality' for a long time, I really have.
In the early days of my journey, I just wanted to know how things worked, why people did what they did? (Usually around people doing things I didn't like, but sometimes these thoughts led me to wonder about the opposite sex! (Curious creatures, don't you know!))
Then I'd start to think about why *I* did what I did! (I'm an even more curious creature than the opposite sex!)
And this is when I discovered self help books and spiritual books like The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle.
And whilst, sometimes this journey has often felt like 'go forward 2 steps and step back 3', I believe I'm kinda getting there - the true nature of reality, my reality and yours, is revealing itself to me.
Here's what I've been learning, then:
There's no such thing as reality, just perception
Your thoughts create your world, and
"We're living in the feeling of our thinking" -- Michael Neill
Thus, everyone is doing their best
The third quote is a game-changer, actually, it offers us a completely different paradigm (posh word, I know!) for how the world works.
It means that when we're happy we're experiencing happy thoughts, and when we're sad we're experiencing sad thoughts.
It means our 'happiness' has nothing to do with the circumstances of our life, and everything to do with our thoughts about our circumstances.
It means that the extent to which we are happy is the extent to which we have made peace with our thoughts, simple as that... (This 'making peace' reduces to not taking our thoughts seriously!)
Introducing The Three Principles...
All of these 'truths' about how life actually works - i.e. from the inside out (thoughts dictate our feelings), rather than the outside in (circumstances dictate our feelings) can be explained by the 3 principles introduced / discovered / explained by a man called Syd Banks.
And rather than try and explain what the 3 principles are (other than they involve Mind, Consciousness and Thought), let me share some 3 principles quotes to do my bidding, and then let me provide a link to a definitive Three Principles website...
"Your thoughts are like the artist's brush. They create a personal picture of the reality you live in." -- Sydney Banks
"We are creating 100% of our experience of reality, moment by moment by moment." -- -- Michael Neill
"It is not our thoughts that get us into trouble; it is our thoughts about our thoughts that get us into trouble." -- Jack Pransky
With this understanding embodied, and in place, I can recognise why I might behave 'badly' sometimes and 'better' on others - I've got a low state of thinking going on versus a high state of thinking.
And because I can behave 'badly' so can everyone else on this planet. It's all about our state of thinking, and understanding that we don't have to take our thinking seriously to navigate life, there is another way... to trust in our innate wisdom to guide us instead, and to recognise our innate wellbeing...
(I'll stop there. I'm sounding - a gnashed teeth grimace! - a tad evangelical!)
...Suffice it to say, that I intend to live my life from now on as fully aware of this Inside Out-ness of life.
I also intend to coach people on this understanding of the true nature of the human experience, so that they are able to access their wellbeing - a wellbeing that, truly, never left them, but wasn't being felt as they had too much on their mind beforehand to think it. (And my professional coach training begins next year!)
And, finally, I intend to explore the true meaning of Albert Einstein's inspirational quote below, the one I somewhat 'mealy-mouthed' about below.
Turns out, we're all 'living the dream' - hardly anybody, though, fully realises it...
And the first way I've decided to do this is by starting a brand new newsletter called "What Shall We Create Today?" starting in 2014. It's going to be recognise the fact that we're all creators, really, and it's up to us what we create for ourselves.
