Fear, fear, everywhere... There really is a plague of fear, out there, an epidemic.
Either we're fearing about our own lives - will she want me?, can I risk changing jobs?, what if it doesn't work out?... Or we're fearing about how others do their lives - random acts of violence perpetrated by unhappy, confused souls, for example, that we immediately think might happen to us (solution: turn OFF the news!!!)
Fear eats away love, is a reverse of the LEAF acronym I first heard about in 1998, Love Eats Away Fear.
Love does eat away fear, or - if we let it - fear eats away love. It's going to be one or the other, it really is. So which version of life do you prefer? Which version of your self feels best? What would you most like to experience from another, their fear or their love?
"Hmm, seeing as you put it like that Steve..."
And, of course, I'm hardly Mr Fear Does Not Affect Me. But I'm getting smarter all the time to the various wiles of fear, oh yes! And, recently, I've been able to look fear straight in the eye - some of the very worst of fear I can imagine for myself - and I've been able to stay with this fear, speak its name, and not be defeated by it.
As my cool new-ish friends, Cedric and Myrtle, say: "If it moves, eat it!" Er, I meant the other thing my cat friends say, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself."
These two beautiful and wise cats, brother and sister, are very different characters make no mistakes, but they love life and live it in the now. Yes, they want feeding rather too often, but they only run when something scares them right then and there, otherwise they relax, they chill out and they enjoy...
The fear in our lives lies in the past, or in the future, but never in the present. (If a car is about to run you over, then don't be frightened... just get out of the way!) So let's become aware of our fear, let's notice it, then let's just enjoy life anyway!
That's what I say, and I'm always interested in what you say, of course (especially if your name is Cedric or Myrtle!).
This issue's contribution is from anonymous, and it's about fear and how it might manifest itself in friendship!
Specifically, Anon is worried about how a friendship has changed for the worse, and somewhat fearful of sharing this with her friend, in case... Well in case he or she's right (and they don't want to be friends any longer)... Read Anonymous' My Friendship Troubles -- Click here!

"Fear is a habit; so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves: I can!! and I will!!"
