"All men should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why."
Listen to my thoughts about James Thurber's free inspirational quote in the video below. You'll also discover a bit more about a favourite part of West Yorkshire, this time the train journey between Sowerby Bridge & Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire (UK).
What I Wonder...
(NOTE: Yes, I wrote any captions you see in this video. It's called self-deprecation, and it's mostly a healthy thing (I think!).)
So, as I say in the video - you did play the video, didn't you? ;-) - this James Thurber inspirational quote is about "knowing thyself".
Yes, know thyself.
Know what you do.
And, maybe, know why you do it.
Again, it isn't about knowing thyself and fixing thyself, but it's about knowing how you operate - what your operating instructions are what make you tick!
Because this knowledge might, just might lead to you making positive changes in yourself if and when you realise you 'work' in a way that does not serve you!
You may also come to understand and accept that you work a certain way - and THAT IS OKAY with you!
Either way, I believe that James Thurber is asking us to "check in" with ourselves, ask a few basic questions, just to make sure that all is as it we would like it to be.
To make sure that where we are in life is where we're happy being, I guess...
Seriously, ask yourself these questions, before you skip along and do something else. Face yourself, for a moment! I think just taking a few short moments now could well have a profound impact on your life, it really could.
Especially if you remember, that your life - and how you respond to what happens in your life, as importantly - is 100% YOUR responsibility.
So if you don't like how things are going. Er...
(You know the rest of the story!)
That's what I say anyway, to you, me and anybody else reading this James Thurber quotes page. But, of course, I welcome your views too.
So please share your wisdom, your thoughts, regarding this James Thurber free quote! :-)
PS And here are three more free inspirational quotes from James Thurber
"Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness."
"Humour is emotional chaos remembered in tranquillity."
"I loathe the expression 'What makes him tick.' It is the American mind, looking for simple and singular solution, that uses the foolish expression. A person not only ticks, he also chimes and strikes the hour, falls and breaks and has to be put together again, and sometimes stops like an electric clock in a thunderstorm."
PPS Now please comment, please have your say - thanks.
