I Love This Quote By Brian Vaszily
by Astrid Hardjana-Large
"Falling down is how we grow. Staying down is how we die."
-- Brian Vaszily
This is a very true quote and I say this due to the experience of my life.
In living with Epileptic seizures I have often wanted to try things and been faced with a disappointment. Despite the sadness that I have encountered falls have helped me to learn my person and what my person truly wants.
In discovering these lessons I have been able to grow as a person and avoid becoming a dependent on others. Falls have also helped me to recognize my blessings, something that gives me the power to move on.
"Staying down is how we die." I have seen how true this line is when I met others with a similar medical issue. Some chose to accept having seizures by choosing to stop trying things and to depend on their family for support.
I heard complaints of their life being over but they did not want to keep trying. They chose to blame the people around them and did not want to take a look at their own personal actions.
Following others (parents, family or friends) when they tell us that we cannot accomplish things is not really a safe thing for one to do. It is a way to live our life as another person.
It is good to listen to what they say and decide how it applies to us. It is up to our own person to know what we want and what we can do and the best way to do it is to try it. It is true that we will be faced with disappointments and confusion but through our efforts we will also be met with lessons to help us grow.
