How To Ask A Girl Out

by Harry
(UK)

My online relationship advice is quite simple, really, I just want to know how to asking someone out for the first time. Any and all tips welcome...

QUESTION: How Do I Go About Asking Someone Out?...

MORE FROM Harry...

Hi,

I'm a 16 year old boy and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with this girl who I have known for about 3 years. We were really close in the first one and a half years of knowing each other with lots of phonecalls and texts and even admitted liking each other.

However in the second year we lost contact. We have only started to keep in contact again recently via facebook and facebook chat but I have fallen back in love with her.

The only problem is that we haven't met up for about 2 years and our friendship has only been via text/online. And when I asked her whether she wanted to meet up in the summer she said that she didn't have enough money to go out (since she had spent it all on seeing other friends and public transport as she lives about 25 mins away)

When we talk online she is mostly very talkative and I love talking to her and I think I would love being in a relationship with her, but I just don't know what steps to take to get there?

Any advice?

Should I ask her whether she wants to meet up again now seeing as summer is over? Or do I wait? This has been driving me crazy for the last couple of weeks and I don't want to spoil our friendship, yet I feel like she's the 'one' though I may be wrong...help?! :s

STEVE'S ANSWER

Henry, there are no easy answers to your question other than the one I'm going to share with you, now...

"All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous unpremeditated act without benefit of experience."
-- Henry Miller

Basically, you have to go for it, somehow. Make your feelings known, really known, so there can be no doubt. Take the massive risk that she might reject you, but take the risk anyway.

Some things just cannot be successfully planned, and this is one of those times - just think of any plan, and put it into action.

You will no doubt grow if you do this, Henry, whatever the outcome of your efforts.

Good luck, and I wish you well :-)
Steve
