Virginia Satir Quotes

by Steve M Nash
(Brockholes, W Yorskhire, UK)

Weekly Wonder Online: 19

Virginia Satir wonders...

"I want you to get excited about who you are, what you are, what you have, and what can still be for you. I want to inspire you to see that you can go far beyond where you are right now."

Listen to my thoughts about Virgina Satir's inspirational quote in the video below. You'll also discover a bit more about a favourite part of West Yorkshire, this time the video was shot in Brockholes (as seen from my window), in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

What I Wonder...

(NOTE: Yes, I wrote any captions you see in this video. It's called self-deprecation, and it's mostly a healthy thing (I think!).)

So, as I say in the video, this week I mainly share the views of Amanda (a subscriber of The Weekly Wonder). And Amanda says this about Virgina Satir's inspirational quote:

Virgina Satir's Quote - What Amanda Says...

Hi Steve - I diligently read the wonderful quotes you select each week and often reflect on how they apply to my own life.

This week's quote I find especially interesting.

As with many of us, we have such dreams and aspirations built up inside of us but often do not know where to begin.

For some, we may be the student who envisions success but isn't really sure what we want to do to succeed. For other's, we may be well into our prime with passions that we've never taken the time to explore. Inspiration can go a long way, but until we are ready to step out into the unknown, we will never truly know how far we can go!

Thank you for your thoughts, Amanda - which were shared (and reprinted) with permission...

Virgina Satir's Quote - What I Say...

As for me, well I both like Virginia Satir's quote (and the quotations listed below) as well as Amanda's thoughts on them - both inspirational.

And if the truth be known, I guess Virgina's words reflect the real reason why I created Self Help Collective in the first place: to empower people to be the best that they can be.

And the reason I want to empower people thus? Well, it's a selfish reason, obviously - I want to empower myself to be the best I can be.

So my encouraging and urging you to do this - to give you the self help resources, tips and advice, and a platform for you to share both your wisdom (and lack) - then I am encouraging and urging myself to do this, too.

Learning by teaching, as I call it in the video.
==Aside==
This was my not vision for Self Help Collective from the beginning. Originally, I just wanted to offer guru-free self help. Now I can see that my vision for this site evolves, and becomes clearer, as the site develops and as I develop as a human being. In fact, when I decided to build this website in the first place (using a software service called SBI!) - in Feb 2008 - I had no idea that I was even going to create a self help website. As you'll see, if you read my site building diary here!

In a sense, how Self Help Collective has evolved reflect's Virginia Satir's quote: "... to go far beyond where you are now."
==Aside==

So I am very much a fan of this inspirational quote.

I want this for myself - want to take risks in life, so I can go far beyond where I am right now.

And I want this for you, too.

And that is what the Self Help Collective website is all about...

That's what I say, anyway, about Virgina Satir's quote. It would be great if you decided to do what Amanda did some time ago and share your thoughts, below.

Yes, that's right, I'd love to hear your wisdom, your thoughts, regarding this Virgina Satir inspirational quote! :-)

Thanks for reading,
Steve

PS And here are three more free inspirational quotes from Virginia Satir

"We can learn something new anytime we believe we can."

"Once a human being has arrived on this earth, communication is the largest single factor determining what kinds of relationships he makes with others and what happens to him in the world about him."

"We must not allow other people's limited perceptions to define us."

PPS Now please comment, please have your say - thanks.

How Timely and thanks to you & Amanda and Virgina
by: sandra

I've been on a path to find myself and I am realizing all the things I am not. I've been exploring readings in the subject of non duality. If you're not familiar you can do a search on youtube and many alleged enlightened teachers will come up. I love listening to Burt Harding and Mooji among some others.

That aside, I found a magazine on enlightenment this evening and I just got through reading about "temperament" and career choices. Additionally, I am looking more specifically to find a subject of which I feel passionate about for an upcoming SBI website which has been in planning(day 2) for quite some time. (back to the point...) Because of finding this website and now learning and sharing many things about self help, I think I am closer to my goal of finding a subject. I'm going to just do the process and not be concerned about the outcome. And your statement about how this site has affected you is inspiring.

Anyway, I want to share that You and folks like Amanda make this site so great. I'm realizing that a website is not just about making money (although I'm sure that helps) but it is about making connections. And I see how powerful words can be. Can you feel the power in these words from authors some of whom are no longer with us. Isn't that something? And can you feel the power in the words we all share with each other.

Quotes and words are powerful. Aren't they?

Thank you for a site which is becoming top on my list for finding substinance.

Anyway, I love Virginia Satir's quote and I will meditate and contemplate on the message. Although I have doubts from time to time on my interest and passion, because they are so varied and they keep changing, I'm realizing because of your web site that it doesn't matter where we begin as long as we do begin. All we have is now and it is ever changing and expanding as we provide energy from the source.

Thank you for sharing these videos and more importantly yourself with us.

Oh the snow...I left the snow 25 years ago and left the midwest headed for the west coast; but it is wonderful to see it from a distance.(LOL)

Humble thanks, Sandra
by: Steve

Thank you so much for your thoughts about my site - very humbling to read what you say, Sandra.

I'm glad it's encouraged your direction with your own SBI! site.

And to anyone wondering what SBI! is all about, well it's basically the internet business-building software service I used to create SelfHelpCollective.com.

I highly recommend SB!I to anyone interested in making a positive difference to their lives, I really do... (This is my free guide to SBI! - http://www.site-buildit.com - should you want to learn more!)

Virginia Quotes
by: Stephen

I enjoyed your reading the Quotes from Virginia. I am one of the moderators on her webpage http://satirglobal.org

Always good to see folks enjoying her work,
I have been to Yorkshire when I was doing some work teaching about Satir in the late 90s - it's a beautiful place in the world.

Just wanted to say well done.

Thank you for including the quote "Once a human being has arrived on this earth,". I have been looking for it to discuss its meaning at my local ToastMasters Group in Haverhill, Massachusetts. It is one of my all time greats. Thank again for keeping the heart and soul alive in each of us.
