Terry Cole-Whittaker Free Inspirational Quote

Weekly Wonder Online: 03

Terry Cole-Whittaker wonders...

"What you think of me is none of my business."

Listen to my thoughts about Terry Cole-Whittaker's inspirational quote in the video below. You'll also discover a bit more about where I live in West Yorkshire (England!) - this time it's a view of my garden (it was raining, see, and I didn't want to get wet!).

What I Wonder...

(NOTE: Yes, I wrote any captions you see in this video. It's called self-deprecation, and it's mostly a healthy thing (I think!).)

So, as I said in the video, it's important NOT to think that Terry Cole Whittaker's inspirational quotation means that we can just be rude and mean to anyone and everyone.

This wouldn't be liberating or freeing at all, and we'd soon have no friends.

Instead, though, when we live our lives with our true purpose, and with as much integrity as we have, then it really doesn't matter what someone else thinks. And those someone else's include 'important' people like siblings, spouses, parents, your own children or even best friends.

Chances are - and this is especially true if you're doing your best and giving it your all - that the naysayers are really naysaying about themselves and their own limits, not yours.

Carry on regardless, carry on trusting your own thoughts about yourself, and could be the chances are that you might inspire these naysayers to start believing in themselves too. (How do you like those apples!)

Yes, if we truly embrace Terry's words, then we truly will be liberated and empowered to live our own lives - and it might, just might, rub off.

To me, inspirational quotes don't come much better than this one. (It's not my favourite inspirational quote, but almost!)

What about you? Does this inspirational quote move you like it moves me? Be great to find out...

Thanks for reading,
Steve

Positive thought...
by: Maurico

That's a positive thought of T. Cole-Whittaker, but I think this golden rule does oneself the job much easier?

¨Never do to others what you don´t want them to do to you ¨.

Nothing to worry after that?

Mauricio

For empathics it is easier said than done
by: Monique Gallagher

Hi,

Thanks for the reminder of Terry's message. I really enjoyed her book.

I don't know about you,but as an empathic it is much easier said than done to "not care what another thinks for feels."

Your thoughts?

there is nothing outside ourselves
by: Anonymous

this is so true there is no way that what another person thinks of another has anything to do with anyone but themselves. it is themselves doing the thinking and can only be their perception not truth.

My Thoughts, Now, in October 2012...
by: Steve

Thanks for all your views on this quotation everyone. Here are a few responses...

Mauricio, the trouble with the Golden Rule is that people are different and I might be okay with 'Fred' being rude to me (so I am okay with being rude to Fred), but Fred doesn't like it if people are rude to him.

See? You CAN'T know how someone wants to be treated other than yourself.

The fact remains as Terry Cole-Whittaker puts it, you are free to think of me as you see fit - they're your thoughts after all, and have nothing to do with me.

This doesn't mean be rude to people, it means you don't have to take responsibility for anyone's feelings other than your own!

You can care about someone else's feelings, Monique, but not have to take responsibility for them.

Believe me when I tell you that I have very much lived my life NOT like this, for the most part. And I know that being truly responsible for your own feelings and thoughts is a BIG undertaking - you really have no space to feel responsible for other people's feelings too.

Steve
