Success Secrets

THIS WEBSITE NEEDS YOU!

(Your opinion can help it succeed! :-) )

So would you please...
Let us know what you think
! (Thanks.)

Do you want to know the secrets of success?

I do hope so, because why would you be on this page otherwise. Lol.

Well, success involves working hard (and smart), setting goals, working on yourself and your relationships with others, etc. But most of all success is determining a goal and working on that goal every day of your life.

As you will now see...

Success secrets - what I say...

I'm not going to give you any success secrets here. (They're mine! Keep off! Lol.) But I will comment on the so-called 'recipe for success' spelled out by others, on this page. Firstly, Dr. Gary S. Goodman writes a long article on success that quite succinctly says that success comes from working hard. (Can't argue with that, really.)

Then fellow website owner, Sarah, gives us some great success ingredients - muchas gracias, Sarah. :-)

But I think Brian Tracey's short video (see immediately below) sums everything up perfectly. It really does. The expression 'relentlessly focussed action' comes to mind, when I watch Brian's video - one of the laws of success, if ever there was one!

Of course, I'd love to know your success secrets! :-)

Success secrets - what Brian Tracy says...

This short video on YouTube is deceptively simple. Yes, it's a success secret, one that I seriously think will work if you do exactly what Brian states. I'm going to do it, today (Aug 26, 2008) and report back a year from now. I'm excited! :-)

Success secrets - what Sarah Lethbridge says...

Now Sarah is a big fan of success, especially when it comes to goal-setting. So much so that she has dedicated a whole website to it, here - http://www.achieve-goal-setting-success.com

So, this is what Sarah considers to be 'success secrets'. It's a summary of her success principles, but you get the idea (and you can learn more from her website - see below). So, Sarah's success secrets:

  • Know what 'sucess' means to you.
(I agree. Don't chase after someone else's dream, but do chase your own - however weird it might sound to other people.)

  • Imitate success
(Again, who your friends and work colleagues matters here!)

  • Get the right attitude
(This is probably one of the most important differences between 'winners' and 'losers'.)

  • Set goals regularly (and take action regularly)

  • Understand people, and understand yourself

  • Manage yourself – get life skills

  • Look after your health, and

  • Have meaningful relationships
    (Very important, too.)

Success Secret: Work & Grow Rich!

Success motivation - what Dr. Gary S. Goodman says...

Undoubtedly, you've come across these wealth-building expressions:

"Nobody ever got rich working for a living."

"Nobody ever got rich working for somebody else."

"I'd rather work smarter than harder!"

If you were to build these notions into book titles, you just might come up with a monster best-seller like THINK & GROW RICH or THE LAZY MAN'S WAY TO RICHES.

But are these notions true? Is striking out on your own the best way to get rich or to strike out?

Look at the career of Mr. Eisner, Chairman of The Walt Disney Company. Years ago, he cut a deal for some hefty stock options instead of a large, set salary.

And by doing so, one year, he earned over $40 million, which even after taxes, qualified him as "rich."

He worked for a living, and worked for somebody else, too, but that didn't stop him from amassing wealth.

Lots of other CEO's are also members of the "working rich."

I don't know where hacks get the idea that you can just dream your way to success; that lofty goals and self-affirmations will, by themselves, take you from rags to riches.

There is a beautiful film that you can check out on video, "Local Hero," about a corporate climber who is sent to Scotland to negotiate oil development rights. He encounters a beachcomber who lives in a shack so small that to enter, you have to climb through a window.

This gent, Mr. Knox, actually OWNS the stretch of beach on which his shack sets, and that beach is worth a ton to the interested oil company.

But Mr. Knox doesn't want to sell because, as he puts it, "This beach is my living; I work it. Everyone has to work!"

Technically, he's rich, and if he'll just say yes to the oil man's offer, he won't have to work. He can be idle.

But Knox's wealth isn't the value of his beach, but is found in his attitude, that work is good, proper, and really inescapable.

So, if you want an affirmation, perhaps you should choose this one:

"The harder I work, the luckier I get."

In the meantime, don't be surprised if the next book I write is titled: WORK & GROW RICH!
