Inspirational Quotes About Opinions...

In this online edition of The Monthly Marvel, I talk about Doug Firebaugh's inspirational quotation about opinions. We discover what how a member of the Self Help Collective deals with DEBT. And you can also find out what's new here at SelfHelpCollective.com too, and more!...

And all you have to do is read, watch and share (Recommend on Facebook, retweet on Twitter, or just share your views - thanks.)

Welcome to December 2011's Monthly Marvel...

The Monthly Marvel Online is simply the online monthly edition of the Weekly Wonder with "extras" - hello and welcome! :-)

November was a most interesting month for me - filled with unnecessary anxieties, and finding new ways to deal with old challenges. If you're anything like me - and you might be, you just might be - then an old challenge you may well face is that of being adversely affected by other people's opinions of you...

Truth is, there really is no need to be bothered by other people's opinions of yourself. You simply cannot control the thoughts of another, you really can't. (It's hard enough to control your thoughts, after all, and someone else has a different culture to you, different values - how can their opinion of you be more important than your own!)

Anyway, I don't want to say too much. I discuss Doug Firebaugh's opinions inspirational quote in this month's Monthly Marvel video - watch below

Yes, this issue is all about believing in yourself - how to go about increasing your self-esteem!...

Which is why, if I had to recommend one page within the SelfHelpCollective for you to check out this month, it would have to be this one: building self-esteem - without self-belief, you have nothing!

What's New at SelfHelpCollective.com

Ah, this is the easiest bit of the Monthly Marvel newsletter to write because what's new can ALWAYS be found at this page: What's new at SelfHelpCollective.com. I'm a big fan of easy, I really am! ;-)

YOUR Feedback - What You Say!

One of the best parts of editing the Self Help Collective website is hearing from you - your stories of success, of struggle, of wanting to grow... And that's why I love sharing individual stories in this newsletter.

This issue I want to look at the issue of overcoming debt, submitted by Addie in Singapore. Addie has been in and out of serious (business-related) debt ever since they were 20 years old. Despite all the ups and downs of the debt, Addie keeps on believing that they WILL overcome the debt for good soon....

Doug Firebaugh Marvels...

"Why do people accept the opinions of others about themselves as truth? Who is going to live the rest of your life anyway? Now that is TRUTH!"

More Quotes About Opinions...

-- Elbert Hubbard

"We accumulate our opinions at an age when our understanding is at its weakest."
-- Georg C. Lichtenberg

"If you must tell me your opinions, tell me what you believe in. I have plenty of doubts of my own."
-- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Literature is strewn with the wreckage of men who have minded beyond reason the opinions of others."

Is it true?
by: Sandy

Being over 60 can I shed some light on this? (Of course this is my opinion.) One of the things I've noticed most of my life is that there are many people who go along to get along. They blindly follow another thinking that if they are in agreement with the status quo they shall be loved. But I always find that there day comes. One of the ways "group think" survives is by making another a scapegoat. This has been my experience. It takes real guts and character to stand alone in your opinion from the group. And believe me you are noticed, sometimes by the very people who are seemingly against you.

That said. I have been reading about how to do the work" of Byron Katie. And a lot of her material is online for free on her website and on YouTube. In case anyone is interested.

But I leave you with material from from Byron Katie:

"...A thought is harmless unless we believe it..."
Do "the work" which means, ask yourself the following about the thought:
1. Is it true?
2. Can You absolutely know that it's true?
3. How do you react to what happens, when you believe the thought?
4. Who would you be without the thought? and, Turn the thought around by finding at least three genuine, specific examples of how the turnaround is true in your life.

For example the thought could be "they think I'm destructive"...
Is it true? Can you absolutely know that it's true?
How do you react when you believe the thought that they think I'm destructive?
Who would you be without the thought "they think I'm destructive?"...(usually people say they would feel free or better)
Turn the statement around...
"I think I'm destructive to me" because I believe something that is not true and that destroys my confidence in myself and it makes me not want to interact with people. It causes me not to seek out new people who respect my me....

This is just an example of what she calls the work. I'm hoping that this message touches someone this very moment.

Keep up the fine work Steve. And to whoever is hurting, get back out there and be the best you can be. And there are more people in the world than "the followers". You know who you are. That is all that matters.

Sandy
