Let Children Become Adults

"Just Let Go!"

How tough it is to bring up children...

I now can understand how my parents must have brought up six of us kits and kins...

I enjoyed bringing up my two daughters.. I used to dress them up like princesses...

Both very good in studies, games and both were very good daughters...

Then one day it happened... They wanted to lead their own lives independently....
When they disclosed their wish, I was shattered... My husband speechless....

We both tried everything to stop them from leaving our home and breaking the family chain... but to no avail...

One fine morning both left... but of course they have taken a flat just few distance away from our place...

My home became empty... No noise...
I cooked only our night meal because my husband would return home in the evenings...
I started skipping my lunch as I had stopped cooking during the day....
I excitement of finalizing the menu had gone...
I had almost become a zombie...

I shared my tension with steve...
He gave me the best advise and as I followed it...
My mind became clear... and at peace...
Thanks Steve...

I would like to tell that : if the kids want to walk out or live their own life...
Just let go !! Don't stop them....

STEVE COMMENT:
Thanks for this acknowledgement, Selina.

And, to everyone else, I simply congratulated Selina on bringing up children that were strong and independent enough to no longer need to live with their parents. For me, this is the aim of all parenting - to be able to let go of them, to let them become their own people!

Grown Children
by: Evelyn

Totally understand your feelings about letting your children go...I have 4 grown "men" sons & am still letting go..they have formed their lives, made their choices, just as I did so many years ago....

I trust that I have done my permitted part in their lives....realize that they were entrusted to me "for a time" appreciate opportunity to share my thoughts without sounding "preachy"
