John Lennon Free Inspirational Quotes

by Steve M Nash
(Brockholes, W Yorskhire, UK)

Weekly Wonder Online: 17

This online edition of The Weekly Wonder is about one of John Lennon's free inspirational quotations, the one that starts "Life is what happens when...". And I offer an explanation of it, in both text and video form...

And you can receive a shorter version of the Weekly Wonder newsletter, sent to you by email, by subscribing - see below.

John Lennon wonders...

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."

Listen to my thoughts about John Lennon's inspirational quote in the video below. You'll also discover a bit more about a favourite part of West Yorkshire, this time Brockholes, as seen from my bedroom window.

What I Wonder...

(Please feel free to comment - either at YouTube or below. Thank you.)

So, as I say in the video, whilst I'm not exactly sure what John's getting at here I thought of this inspirational quote for the very reason that I changed my plans for the day.

Some days ago, I'd actually planned to take this Wednesday off and shoot several videos in and around West Yorkshire. I wanted to film various stretches of canal - I absolutely love canals by the way, probably like them more than rivers if truth be told! - in places like Bingley (the 5-rise locks), Marsden and even Leeds.

Trouble is, the weather was looking flat and grey and above all COLD.

I'd also the Tuesday night before arranged to meet a friend late Wed afternoon, meaning I wouldn't really have time to get to all the canals (by train! - don't have a car, at the moment).

And then 'life' provided me with some time-consuming chores that I really had to do straight away.

All in all, my plans to film several videos could still go ahead, but it would have been a rush and I wouldn't have enjoyed it, and so sticking to the original plan really would seem unnecessary, and - to coin a phrase - an act of 'cutting my nose off to spite my face'.

So, instead I just filmed the one Weekly Wonder video - the one shown above.

I filmed it from the easiest place I could find - my bedroom window.

And then I carried on with the rest of my day, happy in the knowledge that I would be able to shoot the series of canal videos another time. If I still wanted to keep to that plan.

So, I guess what I'm saying here is that my experience of filming the Weekly Wonder in my Brockholes bedroom window, is an example of John Lennon's words. And in bullet-form, that means...
  • Sometimes life is about ripping up the timetable and taking the opportunity that presents itself in the here and now.

  • Sometimes making plans is a useful and necessary exercise - and I highly recommend people plan their shopping, for example, or plan (at least some parts of) their holiday (like, the destination) - whilst other times planning just takes the joy out of life.

So I plan to write about and upload my Weekly Wonder, featuring John Lennon's free inspirational quote, today - Friday, 19th November, 2010. (Otherwise I may well never get around to producing this page, and the corresponding video that links to it.)

And I am also happy to be spontaneous, so I may meet with some like-minded folk tomorrow (some friends I haven't met yet, via a Meetup in Leeds) instead of recording my canal videos. And I am happy to change all of those plans should the weather dictate.

Hmm, this is a long-winded way of urging you, me and everyone else that reads this page (and John Lennon's inspirational words) to, at least sometime...
GO WITH THE FLOW

That's what I say, anyway. And, as I hope you now know, I'm no expert when it comes to these interpretations.

So thank you very much John Lennon (thanks for the words, thanks for the music and Rest In Peace) and thank YOU for reading and sharing your views...

Yes, that's right, I'd love to hear your wisdom, your thoughts, regarding this John Lennon quotation! :-)

Thanks for reading,
Steve

PS And here are three more free inspirational quotes from John Lennon

"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted."

"All you need is love."

"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination."

PPS Now please comment, please have your say - thanks.

Going first, again!
by: Steve

One of the reasons I post comments here is to encourage others to do the same...

That's the plan anyway!

But sometimes, as we've seen here, plans don't always work out...

*Do they*? ;-)
