What makes a quotation a famous inspirational quote?

Hmm, well whether it's about sport or business or success or failure, it has to be a quotation that we've all heard, I guess, or has to be said by someone famous.

That's what I think, anyway - what do you think?

Weren't those inspirational quotations fabulous? How great would it be if you could get it on a poster? Well, I bought the Babe Ruth quote about fearlessness ("Never let the fear of striking out get in your way") from AllPoster.com and I'm looking at the framed print on my wall as I type.
