I actually don't talk much about the Epictetus quotes about failing to fail in the video as I'm too distracted by visiting Brimham Rocks for the first time in 30 years - wow! However, I do mention what 'failing to fail' feels like, and wonder why you (and I) fail to fail, so to speak!

I guess fear of failure is endemic in this world, and it really would be easy to blame our parents. But they take the rap for so many other of our foibles and faults, I say we give them a break on this one, eh!

Instead, let's take responsibility for our own fears here! And then let's look at what failing to fail is all about...

Fear of failure leads, inevitably, to failing to fail.

Which means fear of failure leads to fear of trying.

Which means failing to fail leads to failing to live - oh oh!

Failing to live is not something anybody would even wish on their worst enemy (I hope!). But it's true, if you fail to fail (or fail to try something that you might fail at) then you really are failing to live...

And what is the point of living if you're going to fail to live.

So here's my question to you: are YOU failing to fail, and if so, WHY?

And whilst you're thinking about failing, and pondering on these inspirational quotes about failure, I'll give you some reasons why we don't like to fail:

Fear of humiliation?

Fear of pain?

Fear of 'death'?

Fear of rejection?

(Any more for any more?)

Clearly, failing to fail is a daft thing to do.

So is failing all over the place, time after time after time.

A middle ground of striving to grow, to achieve and to stretch is required where reasonable chances of success are likely, yes.

But, the bottom line is this: are you failing to fail? And if so, I don't recommend it as a course to living a full and satisfying life.

After all, let's not forget what Zig Ziglar says in his quotation about failure: "Failure is an event, not a person". (Find more inspirational quotes about failure here!)

Failing to Fail

What a beautiful and spiritual place to showcase the statement Failing to Fail. These rocks have certainly failed to fall(I think).

I wonder if this is the place that inspires the three rocks you often see in tech videos dealing with the subject of balance.

You're right on about failing to fail. I do have fears of failure and want to work through it. It seems sometimes I'm better at helping other people and want them to be successful but I'm afraid of failing myself.

Yet a part of me knows that one must make mistakes in order to learn. Deep down something says there is no such thing as failure and just as some of the rocks seem like they may topple over, some other rock provides balance.

I think we have that mechanism in ourselves to catch us. So a mishap is made and then up pops something else(usually called another direction)

I'll have to look at (but not for too long) what this "failure" word means to me since I believe in the power of serendipity.

I really loved this park. And thank you for sharing. I'm going to see what I can find out about this park.

How did you get over failing to fail with this website? I really want to know.

I was just reading about Dr. Morita. His website here: http://www.todoinstitute.org/morita.html

His basic premise is to work even through the negative feelings, thoughts and anxiety. Just keep pushing along even though they tug on the soul.

Please let me know your thoughts about how you manage to fail to fail.

Thanks (as ever) for your insightful thoughts re my video and thoughts re the 'failing to fail' inspirational quotes.

(I had not noticed that the rocks had failed to fall - thanks for that!)

Re my Self Help Collective website, and failing to fail, well I've been making a living from websites for over 11 years now, AND I trust in the site-building process behind Self Help Collective (site was built using SBI), so failure just wasn't going to happen (once I'd committed to success)

Re other ways I fail to fail...

* Relationships

* My online business (I haven't succeeded like I 'know' I can)

I have failed in other aspects of my life, though, and been happy for the success that's resulted (if you see what I mean).

Interesting perspective - thanks

I think I will start looking at ways to fail in online quest and then go for it and trust in the process. I have spent to much time looking for something sure with business. I've failed to fail with working with others and avoiding failure to fail in working with and for me. I have failed to identify "one single passion" because many things interest me. And I've not failed to get paralysis from analysis.

I hope this message helps someone else.

Its good to have solid relationships. A good accomplishment. Usually when that is good then business suffers. Its all about balancce.

As far as your website I think its good. Not sure what the factors are as to getting more traffic or if traffic has changed in the web world because of social media. One strong point is SBI's embrace of social media. But I find many associates want more socialization than using the web for more serious pursuits. So one has to be creative.

Yet I just read a book about the new trend in the future will be the emergence of self help and spirituality. So just keep going and this will take off. I feel this is the case. Thank you so much. I look forward to your posts. This is an unique endeavor.
