Dr Seuss Quotes

by Steve M Nash
(Brockholes, W Yorkshire, England)

Weekly Wonder Online: 46

This is the online archive of The Weekly Wonder. And this (full-length) edition discusses an inspirational quotation by Dr Seuss, in both text and video form.

And you can receive a shorter version of the Weekly Wonder newsletter, sent to you by email, by subscribing - see below.

Dr Seuss wonders...

"Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened ."

More Dr Seuss Quotes...
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells."

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple."

"I'm afraid sometimes you'll play lonely games too, games you can't win because you'll play against you"

What I Wonder...

Listen to my thoughts about Dr Seuss' quote in the video below.

(Please feel free to comment - either at YouTube or below. Thank you.)

I love this quote by Dr Seuss, and was more or less able to fell it fully in myself at the time one of my relationships ended.

Don't get me wrong, I felt like crying because it was over - "Why did it have to end?", "Why did I make *that* mistake, again?", "Why couldn't we try again?", etc. - but I WAS thankful that it happened too.

You have to move on, you really do.

And I don't necessarily mean move on to the next relationship (and, long-term relationships offer no need to 'move on', I agree).

I mean you have to move on to the next moment, or next series of moments, and experience them fully.

As I say in the video above, much of our troubles in life, our suffering, stem from our not accepting how life is in the moment we experience it. We want it to be different. ("Why isn't it different?")

REAL peace of mind comes, I believe, from smiling - being grateful for - what just happened, and then accepting what's happening now...

How do you go about smiling because it happened, rather than suffering because you don't want it to be over?

Do you have any tips, any success strategies in how you do this?

Or do you struggle to be this positive when life deals you a blow that you don't feel you deserve?

Yes, as ever, I always want to know what you think - either of my thoughts, or the Dr Seuss quotes themselves...

What YOU wonder?...

Yes, I'd love to know your thoughts on these inspirational quotes by Dr Seuss, or your experiences of smiling because it happened... You can always leave comments below! :-)

Thanks for reading,
Steve

PS It's great when you share, when you have your say - thank you!

PPS I love Dr Seuss' quote about questions - see above. It's a great addition to last week's Weekly Wonder video about quality questions

In the moment
by: Sandy

I know that everything has an ending. Actually I don't know for sure but this has been what I've seen(at least in appearance). Some religions are based on this premise. If we know everything has an end, what happens in our mind to make us think otherwise?

Could it be we are programmed(only word I can think of, no pun intended) to enjoy each moment? for instance as I write this I know I will come to an end. But, it feels like I'll be writing in eternity as I do it. And yet I know when this is done "writing" will continue elsewhere.

Could the words"it has happened" mean something which is permanent? it happened...I am the one which sees happening as having some finality...maybe it means it happens and will continue to happen?

In any cases I heard it from you that writing here in response to the quotes will never happen soon. What about elsewhere? does anything ever end? Today I'm smiling.

Smiling Sandy! :-)
by: Steve

I'm glad you're smiling, Sandy

And I'm no expert on what happens and what has happened, other than 'happened' and happens can only ever be experienced in the present moment, otherwise it doesn't exist. Does it!

Steve
