Author Unknown wonders...

"Life should be enjoyable; too often we think it's about achievement. The truth is that making life enjoyable is an achievement in itself."

NOTE: Looking for 2015/16 version - click here!

Listen to my thoughts about this inspirational quote in the video below. You'll also discover a bit more about where I live in West Yorkshire (England!) - this time it's a windy view of Holmfirth (in the video), no less, from Thurstonland Bank Rd.

What I Wonder...

(NOTE: Yes, I wrote any captions you see in this video. It's called self-deprecation, and it's mostly a healthy thing (I think!).)

So, as I said in the video, I'm a big fan of self-help (or personal development, if you prefer) but not for the sake of it, though.

No, the point of learning about yourself, of self develpment, is always to make life more enjoyable for yourself.

And I know that some people 'poo poo' self-help; they say it's studied by people who don't seem to practice what they're learning.

And I know that some people just don't learn about life, don't grow, by studying it in a book (or by watching a video of some man with dreadlocks talking on a windy Yorkshire day).

What I say in response is that this is fine - learn about life in the best way for you. And let others learn about life the best way for them - which might mean visiting self-help websites, etc.

Because, ultimately, we're all trying to achieve the same thing: a more enjoyable life!

And who can argue with that as a life goal, eh!

(Note to self: I must be much more open to talking about my self-help 'leanings' when someone asks me that dreaded question "what do I do for a living?" from now on...)

How about you? Why are you a student of self-help? Do let me know, below, using the comments link below.

Thanks for reading,
Steve

PS And here are two more free inspirational quotes from Author Unknown (though I suspect they are not the same unknown author :-) )

"True love doesn't have a happy ending, because true love never ends. Letting go is one way of saying I love you."

"Life's problems wouldn't be called 'hurdles' if there wasn't a way to get over them"

PPS Now please comment, please have your say - thanks.

To Be Happy...
by: Jules

It's taken me alot of self help books, counseling, etc. to realize that it's okay for happiness to your ultimate goal in life. For some it sounds like a cop-out? For me it's the only way to enjoy and absorb life- is through being happy (happy for yourself and really happy for other people). Even if out of twenty books you get one thing that affects you. It was worth every word that you read that didn't affect you:)

SELF-HELP STUDENT
by: Anonymous

I am a student of self help because self help helps me to grow. I also overcome my fears through self help. Self help makes me not to be too hard on myself but instead to be happy with myself. Self help makes me to work hard and also to enjoy my hard work. I hope to do greater things.

LIFE IS GOOD
by: Anonymous

Life is worth living. SelfHelp has made me to see that what I have and what I aspire to have should never determine my happiness. My happiness is a seperate entity and should be treated as such. Happiness should be my greatest achievement, because it is only when I am happy that I could aspire for other things in life and be able to get them. Happiness make me lively and beautiful. Thanks to Steve Nash (SelfHelp Director), he has a worthy course and I love to be his student. SelfHelp has changed my mindset - infact goodness and mercy are constantly following me because I love my life and I am happy with my life - to GOD be all glory.
